Storyboard Text

  • The year is 1500 B.C. and a civilization called Mohenjo-Daro is thriving along the Indus River Valley.
  • Hello, welcome to Mohenjo-daro. We are a civilization that lives along the Indus River Valley.
  • Our houses serve as our workshops.  We also have a flat roof serving as an extra room to sit with friends and or to sleep on during a hot night.
  • We build our houses on top of old houses so each year our city grows taller and taller.
  • The dirty water from homes flows out of houses through pipes and into  a drain in the street.
  •              Bathrooms
  • We shower by standing on a brick 'shower tray' and tip clean water over ourselves.
  • Hinduism also places importance on ritual bathing.  Some people believe that Indus religion shaped early Hindu beliefs.
  • This ritual is called the Great Bath, it gives us purity.
  • We use seals as tags for pots and or pans to show ownership of them.
  • We make these seals by pressing a seal into soft clay and letting it harden.
  • The Indus people did not use money so they exchanged goods (traded).
  • I am a farmer which means I grow crops such as wheat and I trade my wheat for other goods such as clothes, made by a craft worker.
