  • The first significant landowner of the north shore was Dr john logan campbell, owning a lot of 1166 acres.
  • Sold                lot1166
  • He thought that there would be coal around that area therefore he had mining rights. But it was never mined.
  • their must be coal here!
  • The first people to buy  the land witch he cut into farms was the stratford family who then sold it to Mrs Hammond.
  • Peter brown,who then later bought the land of Mrs Hammond covered land witch was no more than bush and scrub, He  built  house witch still exists now!.
  • Shelter was required for the family so trees were planted and cows were soon grazing.
  • Schools were made,shops were placed,post shops,hotels. And also the ferry was getting full.
