  • Settle down class! Today we will be learning about Uniform Circular Motion.
  • Uniform Circular Motion
  • It sounds kind of scary...
  • Hmm... I wonder what that is.
  • The characters in this story are Uniform Circular Motion, Centripetal Force, Centripetal Acceleration, and Circumference.
  • Physics 101 03/15/2017
  • Not to worry class, this is not a difficult topic. But it will help if you think about the different components of Unifrom Circular Motion as characters.
  • Uniform Circular Motion
  • Teacher introduces subject to class.
  • Hi! I am Uniform Circular Motion (UCM for short). My name is pretty self-explanatory. I am the motion of an object traveling in a circular path at a constant speed. Because my path of motion is circular, I work with Circumference.
  • Students feel nervous about subject.
  • Circumference here! I am the distance an object moving with uniform circular motion travels.
  • The rim of the white circle in my hand is an example of what I am.
  • In this story, the components of Uniform Circular Motion are the characters themselves.
  • I am the force that acts on a body moving in a circular path. I direct my force to the center of the body's movement. You can feel me when you're driving around a loop or going through a loop on a roller coaster.
  • I work closely with my brother Centripetal Acceleration. You'll meet him next.
  • Ferris Wheels travel in uniform circular motion, which is why you will see them throughout the story. Here, the character Uniform Circular Motion is being introduced.
  • Here, we are introduced to Circumference.
  • If you are wondering what causes an object to move in a circular path in the first place, meet Centripetal Force!
  • Centripetal Force is introduced here. He is on a running track because centripetal force pushes runners inward on a track.
