  • Act III, Scene I
  • "Immediately we do exile him hence." (197)
  • Act III, Scene II
  • "Tybalt is gone and Romeo banished." (76)
  • Act III, Scene III
  • "Stand up, stand up. Stand an you be a man." (96)
  • Mercutio and Tybalt get into a fight in public and then Romeo comes and gets in between them. Tybalt kills Mercutio and runs off. Later when he comes back Romeo kills him in rage and is sentenced to exile by the prince.
  • Act III, Scene IV
  • The nurse goes to tell Juliet of the news that her cousin is dead and Romeo was the one who murdered him so is therefore exiled. She weeps and gets angry at Romeo until she realizes that if he had not killed Tybalt, then Tybalt would have killed Romeo.
  • Act III, Scene V
  • "Thursday is near. Lay hand on heart; advise. An you be mine, I'll give you to my friend." (222-223)
  • Romeo grieves of his fate in Friar Lawrence's cell. Then, Juliet's nurse shows up and gives him a ring as the symbol of their love. Romeo plans to see Juliet that night then leave before morning.
  • Old Capulet and Paris meet and discuss the arranged marriage to Juliet. They come to the decision that she will marry him on Thursday.
  • "Prepare her, wife, against this wedding day." (35)
  • When old Capulet tells Juliet of her arranged marriage to Paris she says she does not want it and they get into a big fight. He tells her that she either marries Paris or she is cut off.
