Storyboard Description

The Lotus Eaters.

Storyboard Text

  • We were sailing for nine days, but finally came across an island. The island was of people who ate flowers .
  • "For nine days I was thrust by savage winds across the fish-rich sea. And on the tenth we reached the Lotus-Eaters ' land, those men who feed upon a flower." (pg. 171)
  • I did not know what kind of people they were that lived here. So I sent three of my men to see what they were like.
  • "....I sent two crewmen and a third, who served as herald, to see what sort of mortals held this land." (Pg171-172)
  • It wasn't hard for my men to find these people. But unlike I thought, they did not try to kill my men, they wanted to share their flowers with them.
  • "Those three were quick to find the Lotus-eaters, who did not think of slaughtering my men: in fact, they shared their lotus food with them." (Pg 172)
  • It is so nice there the men did not want to leave. They were enjoying themselves forgetting their old life and eating lotus flowers.
  • "Those three who feasted on honey-sweet, enticing lotus fruit had not the least desire to bring back word or soon return at all: they wanted only to stay there, to feed upon that food and disremember their homeward path." (Pg 172)
  • I am very mad at you all. Not coming back and just forgetting us while you were eating those flowers!
  • "I had to force them back, in tears, to their own ships; there, they were dragged beneath the rowing benches and bound fast." (Pg172)
  • After the men got in there places, we rowed away from the land and the Lotus-Eaters.
  • "From there we sailed away with troubled hearts." (Pg 172)
