On February 14th, 2018 Nikolas Cruz went into Stoneman Douglas High School and began shooting, and murdered 17 students.
Cruz is currently being held alone in a prison cell because of his high-profile case. Due to execution being a possibility within the trial, he has chosen to remain mute instead of pleading guilty or not guilty.
Students, faculty, families, and community members have since decorated the fence around the high school with flowers, candles and other momentos in memory of the 17 victims
The first day back since the shooting, comfort dogs were brought in for the students, as well with dozens of police officers around the area.
Emma Gonzalez gave a powerful speech at the March For Our Lives movement. As kids all over the country continue to march.
Fight for your lives, before it's someone else's job.
Students here at Stoneman Douglas are going to be provided mandatory transparent backpacks for security and safety reasons when we arrive back from our spring break of 2018
