At the end of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Huck and Tom find gold, and Huck is adopted by The Widow Douglas who lives with her sister, Miss Watson. They try to reform him, but Huck does not like this...
Now we'll start this band of robbers and call it Tom Sawyer's Gang.
Huck and the other kids of the town get together to join Tom's band of robbers, willingly following Tom.
Huck's deranged father, Pap, returns to town, kidnapping Huck and taking him to a cabin off the river. Pap becomes too severe, so Huck fakes his own death and escapes, sailing down the river.
Huck goes to Jackson's Island, and he finds Jim, who has run away from Miss Watson upon hearing she was going to sell him down the river. They learn that men are coming to search for Jim, so they escape on a raft, and they plan to reach the Ohio River to get to the free states.
They find out that there has been a reward for Jim's capture, and when they hear that men have come to search the island, they escape down the river on a raft, hoping to make it to the Ohio River towards the free states. They meet several people along the way, but they only feel independent when they're on the raft.
They meet two con artists who claim they are an English duke and the heir to the French throne, and that they are being chased by armed bandits. They take control of the raft and pull several scams on towns down the river, including one that they pose as English brothers to take one family's inheritance.
