In this first scene Hannah is having dinner during Passover Seder, and starts to feel sick after drinking watered wine at the beggining of Passover. Still having a glass of watered wine in front of her, she says she will give her whole glass to Elijah the prophet, a figure in the Jewish religon during Passover. Her Grandpa accepts this as a good deed and lets her open the door for Elijah.
In this scene Hannah, Aunt Eva, Aaron, and Grandpa WIll are waiting for Hannah to open the door to let the Prophet Elijah into their house. After opening the door, she steps outside and doesn't see the usaul hallway of apartment doors, but insted gets warped back into the past.
Hannah, while in the past, spots a man signing and marching to a cottage nearby. She the looks around and sees that she is in a cottage, not her Grandpa's apartment.
