  • This land finally is owned by Great Birtain!  The Dutch are gone !
  • Apartheid policy is now Law
  • The Dutch first controlled South Africa in the 1600's but, power shifted to the British in the early 1800's. It was a wanted destination because it was a half way point for trading between India and the Dutch east-indies.
  • At the end of the second Boers war in 1910, Great Britain left but all power was given to white-Africans who where once Europeans that settled there
  • FREEDOM FOR SOUTH AFRICA
  • In 1948, the policy of Apartheid began to be enforced by law.
  • NELSON MANDELA FOR PRESIDENT
  • During 1951, the Bantu Authorities act  enforced  Black South Africans to move to rural areas. 10% of the population(White south Africans) owned 80% of South Africa's land.
  • From a white only election in 1960, South Africa gained its independance on May 31,1961
  • 1994 is when the fist multicultural and multiracial election  took place and Nelson Mandela became the first Black President of South Africa
