  • Henry
  • Frederick

  • Do you want to escape?
  • SHHHH! But yeah!
  • By: Karleigh O'Sullivan, Bridget Stober, and Nihira Patel
  • Frederick Douglass, Henry, and John were slaves of Mr. Freeland's plantation in Maryland. They all have one thing in common, they were fed up with not having freedom.
  • It's a good thing that we have protections.
  • We gonna die
  • One day, Frederick asked Henry and John if they wanted to join him in an attempt to escape and they accepted. They started to plan their journey to freedom
  • They decided on a plan to get on a canoe and go adrift and follow the north star until they were past Maryland. The boys would bounce their way up the bay.
  • They almost gave up on their plan, though, because they were scared to get caught. On land death could attack them so they wrote protections, passes from their "masters", to stay safe.
  • Their plan was a bee buzzing around the entire plantation. It even found its way to Mr. Freeland, the master.
