- I propose a 1 house legislature. Each state should receive only one vote and congress has the ability to tax and regulate trade. We will elect a weak executive branch with more than one person.
- What shall we decide on regarding representation of states?
- I propose a 2 house legislature. The number of representatives should be based on the population. We should have a chief executive, a court system, and three branches of government
- This is an important topic as it decides how much legislative power each state will have.
- Let's compromise; there will be three branches of government. The congress will be made up of two houses, the senate and the House of Representatives. For the senate there will be two senators per state, and for the house it will be based off of the state's population. All in favor say aye!
- Aye!
- Wait! What about slaves and how they count towards a state's population numbers? The north wants them to count for taxes but not representation, and the south argues the opposite.
- Why don't we compromise again? Let's have each slave count as 3/5s of a free person for both taxation and representation. All in favor say aye!
