Today is Alessia and Daniels first day back from March break. They met in front of their school and walked to their first period class, history.
Hi class welcome back! Today we will be learning about the famous Spanish Flu.
What's the Spanish Flu Miss?
I'm Glad you asked Alessia. Let's take a closer look at it.
That sounds like a nightmare!
Miss, if it didn't all take place in Spain, why call it the Spanish flu?
Excellent question Daniel!
Oh my!! That sounds horrible. When did it start?
Wow class I'm glad to hear all these questions! Well...
Where did it come from?
Spain was one of the only few countries to remain neutral during the war. After receiving the first few cases everyone assumed that Spain was the source of the illness. It is very unlikely the sickness started in Spain as scientist have reason to believe it started in other countries like united States for instance because the first known case was reported in Kansas at a Military base. Other countries such as France, Britain and China have also been considered.
