Storyboard Text

  • Epic Quest Plot Pattern
  • The setting takes place in a dystopian world. It is vast; starts in a remote district, moves to the capital, climaxes in a game-like forest, and returns to the original remote district.
  • Epic Hero
  • Katniss Everdeen
  • I can and will outsmart the game!
  • Stage 1: the Journey
  • I must do what I can to protect those around me and overcome whatever obstacles come my way to survive.
  • The Hunger Games
  • Stage 2: Confrontation with Impossible Challenges
  • I have to keep fighting and survive not just for myself but for Peta and Rue.
  • Here it's safe, here it's warm. Here the daisies guard you from every harm. Here your dreams are sweet and tomorrow brings them true.
  • Katniss is valued by her family and society. Her courage is evident when she volunteers as tribute to save her sister. She overcomes great obstacles during her quest. Risks her own safety for others. In the end she is the symbol of hope for her nation.
  • Stage 3: Revelation, a new awareness with valuable lessons
  • If the audience thinks Peta and I are in love we can both win.  We can control the outcome of the game.
  • We will no longer allow the corrupt capital to control us and turn us into killing machines.
  • Katniss has to travel to an unknown and different world in the capital.  Then she is thrown into an arena where she has to face 11 others who are ready to kill in order to survive.
  • Stage 4: Return home sharing her new perspective
  • Katniss travels to the game arena.  In the arena she has to kill other children and teens to survive.  She also has to face impossible artificial intelligence such as deadly bees and natural disasters.
  • As the story progresses and Katniss fights for her life, she understands the level of corruption associated with the "game".  She becomes aware of the destruction and figures out a way to outsmart the game masters.
  • I am the mocking jay. The one that survived despite the capital's plans, The symbol of the rebellion.
  • Because of Katniss's heroic behaviors, others now see her as a symbol of hope and rebellion against the corrupt government.  She becomes the world's "Mockingjay".
