  • Independence Hall
  • This place is disgusting!
  • Inside Independence Hall
  • 3. Gentleman! I suggest we compromise! Each state gets two senates and the house of representatives is based on population
  • 1. Gentleman! Thank you for coming! Our first topic is Congress. I think there needs to be two houses based on population of the states.
  • 2. What about the small states like New Jersey? We shall not get much say? Each state should have 2 senates and 2 houses.
  • Inside Independence Hall
  • I think we should keep the Articles of Confederation. This new government could lead to a king.
  • I know a lot of the people present right now want state power. We can make a government very fair and no one person has too much power.
  • Yes sir! Agreed! We can not have a one sided government. I will take note of all of this.
  • In the summer of 1787, delegates from each state met, in Philadelphia, to talk about a new government. This was called the Constitutional Convention.
  • Inside Independence Hall
  • Thank you. As a delegate I think that slaves should not vote because they are slaves they work for me. They have a job they need to do and have no right to vote like us white men.
  • Thank you all for your participation! Our next topic is wether slaves should be able to vote for a president. South first then north.
  • The delegates debate about the New Jersey Plan and the Virginia plan. Roger Sherman suggested a compromise.
  • Inside Independence Hall
  • Thank you. Back to the people who do not like the new government. We would create a equal government to where no one person has too much power.
  • The delegates debating on the Great Compromise. James Madison taking notes to make our government without tyranny and make it equal. Federalists and anti federalists argue about if there should be a new government.
  • Inside Independence Hall
  • Thank you all for coming. Our nation will strive off of this new government. We will be equal and everyone will have a say.
  • The delegates making the 3/5 compromise about whether slaves should be able to vote or not.
  • On the other hand they are people just like us. Maybe a compromise. I suggest they count as 3/5 of a person. In between what everyone is saying.
  • Anti Federalists changing the federalists minds on the new government and how it can make our government stronger.
  • That sounds like a better government.
  • Yes! The new government shall be more equal and effective. I guarantee a stronger government.
