  • After eating a young Bull Shark, Bruce is feeling good and a female Bull Shark catches his eye. Bruce digs his teeth into the female's gill area to latch on to her. His clasper, an extension of his pelvic fin, transfers sperm into her cloaca. Bruce leaves gruesome teeth marks.
  • 3:15 PM
  • After Bruce's sperm have fertilized the females ova, they are surrounded by a shell gland. The eggs hatch within the female and a placenta delivers oxygen and nutrients to the pups. After about a year of carrying, the female gives birth to 2-20 live pups.
  • Bruce the Bull Shark: Profile
  • Bruce roams the sea! As he swims water passes over his gills and thin capillaries allow oxygen within the water to enter his bloodstream. In a reverse manner, carbon dioxide passing over the gills is released from the shark’s bloodstream (carrying deoxygenated blood) into the water.
  • 4:00 PM
  • Bruce continues to enjoy his swim, and his organs work hard to remove waste. The rectal gland as well as the gills are responsible for for excretion of extra sodium chloride. His kidney is used to excrete other various salts in urine. Waste from cells are removed via cellular metabolism, whereas bodily waste are removed via the cloaca.
  • This is Bruce. Bruce is a Bull Shark, or Carcharhinus leucas. Bruce is 11.5 feet and weighs 290 pounds. Bruce has two dorsal fins, one much larger than the other. Bruce belongs to the class Carcharhinus, the order Carcharhiniformes, the family Carcharhinidae, and the genus Carcharhinus.
  • However, in this river, danger awaits. Bruce faces bulls sharks' only considerable predator: humans.
