In Western Africa the most important thing was for the European countries to protect there trade of goods as you see here.
In Northeastern Africa the most important goal was to protect the sea route to British India because when the canal opened it gave a shortcut to India making Britain more powerful. So this goal did not succed.
In Southern Africa about 1867 lots and lots of diamonds were found bringing both blacks and whites the the area.
In Western Africa France had most of West Africa but the French land was very dry and some times un helpful. Britain also owned land in Western Africa but only a little and more reliable areas unlike France.
In Northeastern Africa Britain sent soliders along the Nile River building a railroad as they go. They came across Sundanese army and killed 10,000 of them with machine guns while Sundanese only killed 28 British soilders.
In Southern Africa when gold was found in certain city's miners fled in groups to wish and become rich finding gold in some cities in Southern Africa.
