Storyboard Text

  • Darkness
  • Had I but died an hour before this chance, I had lived a blessed time (2.3.68-69).
  • Darkness
  • Wake Duncan with thy knocking; I would thou couldst (2.2.75-76).
  • Darkness
  • It is concluded. Banquo, thy soul's flight, if it find heaven, must find it out tonight (3.1.146-147).
  • The imagery of darkness is shown here in the form of good vs. evil as Macbeth is trying to cover up the fact that he was the murderer of Duncan. The good comes from his empathy towards the death of Duncan, and the evil comes from the thought of him knowing it was him who killed him
  • The imagery of darkness is shown here in the form of guilt, as Macbeth is regretting the murder of Duncan. He realises that he made a mistake in what he has done, but it has lead him down a path of events that will eventually kill him.
  • The image of darkness is shown here in the form of good vs evil as Macbeth knows that Banquo will not attend the dinner, but is acting and speaking very nicely to him.
