Creon believes in a dictatorship and is blind with anger for Antigone. Haimon is being civilly disobedient by arguing with the king.
Creon locks up Antigone in a vault of stone with food, where she must pray to the gods of hell. This is considered pious. Ismene's life is also being spared.
