Storyboard Text

  • We work for the lords and we must pay rent for the land we work on... we must pay heavy taxes and to the church... we have no voice.
  • Many of us endured terrible weather, heavy rain, hard winters and too hot summers... we received less profits from the bad harvests... food prices are rising.... and we are starving.
  • The Third Estate
  • We are all living lavishly in our palaces, we have complete authority over peasants, no taxes to pay, but we crave for more power.
  • The Second Estate: The Nobility
  • We are the body of the Catholic Religion in French. Peasants must pay taxes to initiate a relationship with our Father. We are indeed privilege and we thank god for that.
  • The First Estate: The Clergy
  • Our Government went bankrupt from all the wars we've fought, and our royal kingdom became reckless with their fortune.
  • Our King asked the nobility to help him reform the tax system, but obviously they refused.
  • Our King called us at the palace of Versailles, us representatives of the nobles, the clergy, and the third estate. Our king did not have control of the people.
  • We tried to draw up a constitution showing France, our nation, how to be governed. This was the National Assembly where we all united to make our country the beauty it was once again.
