  • After Jesus was arrested, he was whipped and tortured. Pilate ordered Jesus to be crucified. Jesus was made to wear a crown of thorns and carry a heavy cross to the hill in Calvary. On the way he dropped the cross three times. Simon was ordered to help him carry the cross. Jesus was nailed to the cross. He died for the sins of all people. His body was later removed from the cross and placed in a tomb.
  • Pentecost
  • Three days after Jesus died on the cross, he rose from the dead. Two women were walking past the tomb where Jesus had been buried. They discovered that the tomb was empty. Jesus appeared to these women and told them not to be afraid but to go and tell his disciples he had risen.
  • Pentecost
  • Don't be afraid. This man Jesus did wonderful things. He was a kind and caring man who healed many people.
  • 40 days after Jesus rose from the dead it was time for him to join his Father in Heaven. He talked to his disciples one last time and told them to go and wait and he will send them a gift. Jesus ascended into Heaven to be with his Father.
  • Pentecost
  • I baptise you in the Name of the Father. Son and Holy Spirit
  • For 10 days Jesus' believers prayed and waited for the special gift he promised. They heard a mighty gust of wind come through the room and rattle the windows. Tongues of fire appeared above each of the believers heads. The disciples could speak in many languages. They had been filled with the gift of the Holy Spirit.
  • I'm so confused
  • What did I just say?
  • What is happening?
  • A crowd of people from many different countries had gathered in Jerusalem for the feast of Pentecost. The disciples went out to start talking to them in the people's language. These people did not believe in Jesus and thought these disciples were drunk. Suddenly Peter addressed the crowd and told these non-believers about Jesus and God. Peter was courageous in speaking to crowd as he had been filled with the Holy Spirit.
  • Really!!! I did not know that
  • Peter and the disciples did an amazing job in talking to the crowd. In fact. many many people wanted to start believing and following Jesus' ways. On this day over 3000 people were baptised. This was the start of the early church. This is also known as the church's birthday.
