  • In mid 1787, a convention was made to draft another lawful framework for the United States.
  • I agree, we have to do something !
  • The government isn't working well, we should find a new way of running the country.
  • A group of men, each from a different state, called The Framers gather together. This meeting was called The Convention.
  • I am Ben Franklin, I represent Pennsylvania
  • What are we going to discuss?
  • These men, called delegates, debate and gave different ideas for a new government.
  • What should we put in the constitution?
  • Yes, we all have to agree in its content.
  • We have to debate and gather ideas.
  • After several months, these men had finish writing the constitution, which consisted of new laws and was focus on strengthening the union of states.
  • The Constitution is ready!
  • Finally the states will be more united and our government will work correctly.
  • They knew the constitution wasn't perfect and that other people would have good ideas for it. So they added an amendment process, and "The Bill of Rights".
  • The Bill of rights will limit the federal government power and guarantee people's rights
  • An amendment will allow changes to the constitution, so it can always be improved.
  • In the Constitutional Convention, on September 17, 1787, the Constitution was finally ratified by 9 of the 13 states.
