Storyboard Text

  • Hi, my name is Tom, and I just started taking a very interesting government class. We have a test soon on separation of powers, but I don’t fully understand it. Is there any way you can help me out?
  • Of course! Do you know the definition of separation of powers? We can start there!
  • Mhmm...I think so? Isn’t the division of powers between the legislative, executive, and judicial branches of the government.
  • That’s correct! Do you know why we need this?
  • Uhh... not exactly.
  • Okay, I will explain it to you; separation of powers is an essential part of a Democracy, we need the separation of powers because it prevents one person from having rule over the government.
