Storyboard Text

  • The King is dead!!!
  • Where can I find a sword before the tournament?
  • Come, sword!
  • The story begins by King Pellinore announcing that Uther, King of England, had passed in the night. Since Uther had no known heir, the kingdom needed a way to find their next ruler.
  • Why is this not working!!
  • A competition was announced to choose the next king. There was a sword stuck in a stone outside of a church in London. Whomever pulled the sword from the stone would be the next king of England. Upon arriving in London, Kay goes to fight in a tournament, and sends the Ward to fetch his sword from the inn, which was locked.
  • You are of a higher blood than I wend you were.
  • Please, stop. I wish I had never laid eyes on this stupid sword!
  • While looking for a sword, the Ward comes upon the sword in the stone. Determined to get one back to Sir Kay, the Ward calls upon Merlin for help, and gently pulls the sword from the stone, which makes him the true King of England.
  • Once Sir Ector finds out that the Ward had pulled the sword from the stone, he demanded that him a Kay were given a chance to try. After several failed attempts, they accepted Arthur as the new king.
  • Sir Ector and Sir Kay kneeled to the new king, much to Arthurs disappointment. He begged his family to stand, and promised to make Kay the head of all his lands. The story ends with Arthur stating that he wished he had never laid his eyes on the sword.
  • One theme of the story is loyalty. Arthur remains loyal to his foster family by making his foster brother, Kay, seneschal of all his lands. He also tells them not to bow to him because they are family.
  • Loyalty
