Storyboard Text

  • Stanley is arrested. We are told about the famous baseball player’s shoes that fell from the sky from the freeway overpass ahead. He runs home and is arrested by a policeman that stops him and recognizes the shoes that were stolen from the homeless shelter.
  • "Things went wrong a lot" (Sachar, p. 3).Stanley goes to court and is found guilty of stealing.  He's accused of a crime he didn't do.  He's sent to work camp.
  • Stanley rides to bus to Camp Green Lake.“He’d just been in the wrong place at the wrong time” (Sachar p. 3). Stanley is innocent but still has to be punished for a crime he didn’t do.
  • Stanley is sent to Camp Green Lake, because he’s accused of a crime he didn’t do. The boys there are tough, have weird nicknames and likely have committed much greater crimes than he has.
  • I think one of the themes in Holes is that sometimes bad luck can ruin your life. Bad luck ruined Stanley’s life.
  • He’s sentenced to serve time at Camp Green Lake and he has to dig holes all day.Sometimes we get bad luck like Stanley that ruins your life, and sometimes good luck comes our way and curses get broken.
