This is the First Nations group the Iroquois. They are peaceful, take what they need from the land, and do not care about owning things. Life was simple enough for them.
This is Jaque Cartier, he is an explorer who was told by the king of France to find a new way to go to India to get spices because they were worth a lot of money. This did not go well and instead, Cartier landed in Canada claiming it for France.
When Cartier came he saw the Iroquois and they go along well. The Iroquois taught Cartier about the land and how to hunt. Also, the French traded metal tools for furs like beaver fur.
Hello, we are the Ho-de’-no-sau-nee. (Iroquois)
Bonjour je m'appelle Jaques Cartier. (Hello my name is Jaques Cartier)
On the night before the French left, they took the chiefs 2 boys to bring them back to France.
When the chief learned that Cartier took his kids he was very mad.
On their way back home they wrote down their findings to then present to the king. So that at a later date in 1608 Champlain can come to create a settlement and so that missionaries can come and attempt to change the religion of the First Nations.
