The first step in the road to presidency is the nomination for the candidates, as many people come together to run for being a candidate for presidency. This process starts with many people and narrows as time passes.

The next step is the primary elections and caucuses, where people select delegates, which select certain people as their candidate for the presidency. This process filters out the candidates and finds the main candidate from each party, as the end of this process there are only 2 or maybe 3 candidates.

After the primaries and caucuses, the candidates are set and the delegates are chosen. National Conventions are used to make a formal statement of each candidates opinions on policies, ideas, laws, conflicts, etc., all while using their party's platform to base their ideas upon. These national conventions can happen in many ways, and they can be well scripted or run through fast like a debate.
The next step would be the campaign in the path to presidency, as in this part of the process each campaign is given a certain time to do anything they can to sway and convince the public to their side, as they will run hundreds of ads, have speeches in many different places, anything they can do to convince the public to be on their side
One of the final steps before choosing the president is the general election day, in which all the 50 states are open to voting for the president, and this counts the popular vote in each state, county, and city. This, although, does not decide who has won, but the electoral college will.
The last step in choosing our president is the electoral college, as this step figures out who the president is through who the delegates chosen at the beginning choose at the end of it all. Whoever has more electoral votes in this process becomes the new president.
