A poor widow, and her two daughters, lived in a little cottage. Ever since her husband died they have kept to their selves and ate very little.
They had three cows and a sheep named Molly.
A prideful rooster named Chanticleer, and his seven wives roamed the farm day and night. He would sing at church and everyone knew his voice was incomparable
one day chanticleer begins to have a nightmare and explains to Pertelote about the dream of a great beast with glowing red eyes trying to kill chanticleer and she tells him that he is a coward and that the dream was meaningless
One other day chanticleer is singing and a fox shows up, chanticleer gets ready to run but the fox says..
Noble sir, alas, will you be gone? Are you afraid of me who am your friend? Now, surely, I'd be worse than any friend If I should do you harm or Villainy I have not come to steal your privacy but truly, the reason for my coming is only to hear how well you sing
As Chanticleer starts singing again the fox attempts to chase Chanticleer but he gets away in time. The tries to tell Chanticleer that he meant no harm but Chanticleer doesnt buy it. Chanticleer learns the he shouldn't trust that well and also that his nightmare wasn't so wrong at all
