  • Act 3, Scene 1
  • I am hurt. A plague o' both your houses! I am sped. Is he gone and hath nothing?
  • Act 3, Scene 2
  • If he be slain, say “ay,” or if not, “no.” Brief sounds determine of my weal or woe.
  • The climax with fighting and exile. The star crossed lovers make their final attempt at being together.
  • Act 3, Scene 3
  • 'Tis torture and not mercy.
  • In Scene 1, Mercutio is killed because of the feud between The Montagues and The Capulets. Tybalt attacked Mercutio, and as to avenge his murder, Romeo then kills Tybalt.
  • Act 3, Scene 4
  • For, hark you, Tybalt being slain so late, It may be thought we held him carelessly,
  • The nurse tells Juliet about what has happened. Juliet is conflicted over whose side she should take. Her husband or cousin.
  • Act 3, Scene 5
  • Oh, think’st thou we shall ever meet again?
  • I doubt it not, and all these woes shall serve, For sweet discourses in our time to come.
  • Romeo is not put to death. He is shown mercy by the Prince, but instead of execution, he is exiled. He sees this as worse than being killed.
  • Even amidst all the things going wrong, the Capulets insist on Juliet and Paris getting married. They worry that others may think that they don't care about Tybalt, but the carry on anyway.
  • Romeo and Juliet see each other for the last time before he is exiled. They hope to see each other again despite all that stands in the way.
