After Pizarro and his crew spent seven months on Gorgon Island, they set sail for Ecuador and Columbia and encountered more balsa rafts
Audience With the King
I hereby give you permission to be Governor of Peru.
Pizarro sent a Spanish ambassador to talk to the king, Atahualpa, and gave him a book to talk to the king. The king said he didn't hear anything and the ambassador told him he opposed the Christian faith.
Death of the Inca 1
Pizarro made his first voyage in 1524 and his second in 1526. While sailing off what is now the coast of Ecuador, he made his first contact with the Inca.
Pizarro returned to Spain to report back to the king of Spain to tell him about the riches in Peru. The king permitted him to conquer, discover, and exploit the land of Peru, making him Governor of Peru.
Smallpox had spread through the Inca empire from the Spanish and had killed most of the kings generals and the king himself. He was asked to choose a successor but his choice started a civil war.
Eventually, the Spanish captured the king of the Incas and held him prisoner for a ransom. The King believed if his people paid the ransom, they'd leave the Incas alone.
