  • There are many preparations that must take place to help guide the deceased's soul back to the ancestors.
  • Dad is dead.
  • Oh no! Now we have to start funeral preparations. I'll let the community know about the funeral.
  • Great, everyone is here. Time to assign your roles.
  • Many additional roles are assigned to prepare for the seven ceremonies that must take place.
  • I am the Cuab Tsav and I am the head of everything
  • We are the qeej players.
  • I am the guide, I will sing the ceremonial song at the end of the ceremony
  • We will be the Kav Xwm and organize everything.
  • We are the female cooks.
  • Seven Different ceremonies take place during a funeral. The first one, "Preparation Stage," is when the body is dressed up and cleaned.
  • Done with the first ceremony.
  • The next ceremony is called the guiding the way ceremony. The guide sings the ceremonial song. The third ceremony is the Qeej Tu Siav. This is where thanks are said.
  • The Hais Xim Ceremony is next. This ceremony is for distributing the money, food, and clothes of the deceased to the family. The sixth ceremony to take place is called the Qeej Hlawv Ntawv Ceremony. During this ceremony the Qeej players play qeej songs, food is prepared and eaten. The seventh and final ceremony is the burial ceremony.
