  • the first shots of the civil war were fired on April 12th, 1861. The confederate troops bombarded the Virginia sea fort and fired until the union troops ran out of ammunition and supplies. The confederates won, although no casualties were reported.
  • Fort Sumter: April 12th, 1861
  • Fort Donelson: February 13th to 16th, 1862
  • On July 21st, 3000 troops from the union invaded Manassas, where they were resisted, and defeated. the union thought that the war would be over in this one battle, but they were proven wrong, as the confederacy fought and one this major battle, which the union thought would be an easy defeat.
  • Battle of Vicksburg: May 18th to July 4th
  • Battles Of Bull Run: July 21st, 1821
  • this was supposed to be an easy battle and war!
  • It was the first major battle of the civil war fought to the west of the Mississippi river. it was fought in Missouri, a neutral state.The union was highly outnumbered by the confederates, but as the confederates ran out of ammunition, they retreated, so the union won the battle.
  • Battle of Mobile Bay: August 2nd to 22nd, 1864
  • not enough ammunition! retreat to Springfield!
  • Battle of Wilson's Creek: August 10th, 1861
  • its another win for the union!
  • This was the first major union victory. Union forces marched into fort Donelson where they fought with gunboats, which were battered by the confederates. General grant received land reinforcements, and circled confederate armies, who then surrendered
  • We win!!!
  • This battle represented control of the Mississippi river and its fall would result in the separation of the confederacy into two non-connected parts. Union forces bombarded Vicksburg, where they fought. The confederates resistance lasted 48 days, before they surrendered
  • its been 48 days....but we surrender!
  •   Union forces and 18 naval vessels entered the bay hoping to shut down confederate forts.The union had a hard time navigating around the waters of the bay, as they were full of torpedo fields.The union succeeded and shut down one of the two forts.
  • We have to shut down the confederate forts!!
