An example of symbol in the lottery would be the stones they threw at the people in order to kill them. I examined my thoughts on symbolism and I created a scene that shows a person getting hit by stones and their families not being able to watch. I imagined they would be outside filled with out door festivities while the child was being chased.
Tone and Theme
In the passage the lottery I picked a quote that would best represent imagery and inform the readers on some sensory details. "Clearly and sunny with fresh warmth of a summers day" line one a two of the lottery. I feel that this scene was a great use of sensory details because I was able to include nature by making a park scene showing children interacting with animals.
For figure of speech I identified non standard use of personification. "The black box grew sharper" line 64 of the lottery. I created a scene that included a stage because it adds emphasize to the importance of the black box. In the lottery it is a main tradition of the of the town to put names in the box and the one who is chosen is the unlucky one that gets to die.
The tone that I took from the authors perspective of the lottery is suspenseful and mysterious. I chose these two tones because the passage contained a lot of related ideas the reader could infer because they did not know what to expect next. The scene I created shows a father going to visit his daughter that got killed from their family in the lottery.
