yeah its so BORING. I dont want to be here either.
Its the first week, and the 'complainers' believe hebrew school is boring, and feed off of each other's negativity. They haven't even given me a chance this year, and are sticking to their stereotypes about Hebrew school!
UGH I hate being here. I only come because my parents make me.
Hey kitah gimel, welcome back to Hebrew school! Im Moreh Jay
Im tired! I just want to go home and sleep. or play outside.
Teacher empathizes with how they feel forced to come to more school. Its a full long day inside, sitting at desks!
Summer just ended for them..Its really too bad how much they've just been sitting in class all day ... and I have a lesson plan that I am supposed to follow...
א, ב, ג, ד, ה la la la
Yeah its so stupid. None of us want to be here...
youre sad too? yeah right. youre the teacher...
Teacher tries to empathize and make lesson sound exciting
Im also really sad that summer just ended. Im the new teacher and I don't know you all yet! .. We have some really fun activities for today you might like..
I hate school. I miss summer..
Well, I dunno about you but I'm bored too! I think Im going to head outside and play some cool games.. youre welcome to join me if you want!
Teacher decides to adjust schedule to be outside
Teacher creates introduction game that is outside, and helps them get a better sense of how familiar people are with the alef-bet, which was part of the original lesson plan.
ok! so well go around and say our name, the funnest memory we have from summer, and THEN you have to make a shape with your body of your favorite letter in the alef-bet and we have to copy it and guess which one you choose!
The next person in the circle has to remember all of the previous people's names AND their Hebrew letter.
Students are laughing, moving their bodies outside, and clearly not bored! Its a good start to the year, and helps them build trust and openness with teacher
