European explorers came to the New World of North America in the 1500. Before that time, the continent was an unknown place to them. They met new people the native Americans with fascinating lifeways that the Europeans had never seen and languages they had never heard. Their lives changed as they adapted to different environments. American Indians were creative.They found ways to live in deserts, forests, and along the oceans. The Europeans brought diseases to them, most of them got killed.
On September 5, 1540, The first European to explore the state of Georgia was Hernando de Soto. Hernando came here to look for gold. The Europeans thought that they were better than the natives. And the Natives thought that Hernando was God or something. And the Natives outnumbered.
JAMESTOWN is justifiably called "the first permanent English settlement" in the New World. The first Europeans to arrive in North America. Mercantilism contributed to a successful colony.
