Theo explains the rules in a courtroom to his Government class as they prepare for the field trip to the courthouse the next day. They are going to watch a murder trial against Pete Duffy. Mr. Duffy is being accused for murdering his wife.
And there she was, dead on the floor.
It is the next day and the murder trial against Mr. Duffy begins. Theo and his Government class attend the trial until 3:00 pm.
What I am about to tell you is between you and me.
Mr. Hogan (the prosecutor) and Mr. Nance (the defense) basically both sum up the case. They both tell the story, but they are different. However, it is hard to tell the story because there is no proof or evidence of anything.
Bobby found something top secret.
Mrs. Duffy sister, Emily Green, gets called up to the witness stand first. She found her sister, Mrs. Duffy dead on the floor as she entered her house.
Julio goes to tell Theo about important information. Julio's cousin, Bobby Escobar, witness' the murder of Mrs. Duffy. However, he is afraid to tell the police because he is an illegal immigrant from El Salvador. Theo asks to meet with Bobby to discuss a plan.
Julio comes back to Theo to tell him more information about the case. Bobby found golf gloves that the murderer threw out after killing Mrs. Duffy. Julio gives the gloves to Theo to take care of.
