Daisy v.s. Self
I wish it was easier for me to be able to leave Tom. I don't love him and he doesn't love me.
Gatsby is seen thinking about Daisy when he knows she is married to Tom. He's conflicted because he is so close to Daisy yet so far from accomplishing his dream of having her. Gatsby is dreaming of recreating his past with Daisy.
Gatsby is trying to recreate his past life with Daisy so he tells Tom Daisy never loved him. This angers Tom and the two men begin to argue about who should be with Daisy. Once Tom has had enough he allows Daisy to leave with Gatsby because she is upset.
Daisy is unhappy with her marriage with Tom because she had been disillusioned by Tom and the marriage she thought they’d have. If she left him she would have no money to take care of herself or her daughter. Daisy stays with Tom but her feelings don't match her actions.
