Storyboard Text

  • Scout Jem and Dill go up to the Radley house
  • Jem don't do it this is scary!
  • Scout's Fight With Walter
  • You embarressed me on the first day you fool.
  • Calpurnia reprimands Scout
  • Behave yourself Scout!
  • Quote: "Jem threw open the gate and sped to the side of the house, slapped it with his palm and ran back past us..."(Page 18).
  • Commentary: At this point in time Scout is only beginning the adventures and experiences she will go through in the rest of the story. Scout is very innocent but also easy to control because she is young and want to impress Dill and her older brother Jem. Scout knows deep down that she shouldn't be taking part in bothering Boo but peer pressure gets the better of her and she fallows the lead of her brother and Dill.
  • Miss Maudie's house catches fire
  • How did this fire start? Wait how did i get this blanket?
  • Quote: "Catching Walter Cunningham in the schoolyard gave me some pleasure, but when i was rubbing his nose in the dirt Jem came by and told me to stop."(Page 30).
  • Commentary: Scout is still very concerned about what people think about her and she is extremely angry when she gets in trouble for explaining Walters situation. She has a lot of anger and takes it out on Walter, I think as she grows up this Anger will go away as she learns not to care so much about others think of her.
  • Scout and Cecil
  • Quote: "There's some folks that don't eat like us," she whispered fiercely, "But you ain't called upon to contradict'em at the table when they don't."(Page 32).
  • Commentary: Scout still has a lot to learn but she is still only a child. With this event she is once again taught to not judge people and a theme of misconceptions of people simply because of what they look like is appearing in the novel.
  • Scout and Francis
  • Your daddy is a disgrace to our family!
  • Quote: "I thought i told you and Jem to stay put." He said. "Why we did." "Then whose blanket is that?"(Page 95).
  • Commentary: For Scout this is shocking when Boo places the blanket on her and it furthers her anger and makes her mad that she did't even realize he was so close to her. I think once Scout gets over the initial shock of Boo doing this she will be thankful that he was looking out for her.
  • Quote: "You can just take that black boy" This order given by me to Cecil Jacobs."(Page 99).
  • Commentary: Scout and her brother are getting hate from not only kids but adults because of their fathers action to take on a new court case. But Scout is also learning how to control her anger because she doesn't fight Cecil due to a promise she made with her father.
  • Shut up Cecil!
  • Quote: "Francis called Atticus something and i wasn't about to take it off him."..."A Nigger Lover".(Page 114).
  • Commentary: Scout has now come to the realization that you shouldn't judge others because you are doing it without actually know the persons story or side. I feel like she can now relate to Boo because now the are both outcasts and have something in common.
