- Sanger Rainsford and his friend were traveling to South America aboard a boat for a hunting trip in the Amazon. They discussed how the prey must feel as they are being hunted.
- Climax
- Rainsford fell off the boat at night after hearing some gunshots from a nearby island. He barely makes it to shore. He is so exhausted from the swim he falls asleep immediately.
- Falling Action
- The next day, he follows signs of life to a mansion and some smaller houses. He meets General Zaroff who is also a great hunter. They have dinner together and Rainsford starts to understand that the General hunts human prey.
- Resolution
- Rainsford goes to bed that night but does not sleep. When Zaroff comes in for lunch the next day, he tells Rainsford he will be the next person Zaroff hunts. Rainsford wanted to get off of the island so Zaroff makes a deal with him.
- If Rainsford survives 3 days, Zaroff will let him go. The first day Zaroff finds him easily and gives him a 2nd chance. Rainsford gets smart and sets traps. He kills Zaroff's dog, his sidekick Ivan and injures Zaroff.
- He has been sleeping in the jungle but now that Zaroff is alone and hurt, he makes his way to the mansion to attack. He kills Zaroff and sleeps in his bed that night!
