Stanley was hit in the head with a pair of shoes. He wanted to show his dad the shoes to test his invention. As he ran home a police officer stopped him and saw the shoes.
The judge gave him the choice to go to jail or go to Camp Green Lake. Stanley chose Camp Green Lake. When he got there, he saw that there was no lake. Just holes.
Mr. Sir gave Stanley a shovel. He was told he had to dig a hole five feet deep and five feet wide. His shovel was his measuring tool.
I did it!
He made a friend named Zero. One day, a kid named magnet stole some sunflower seeds. He tossed it to Stanley, but Stanley dropped it. Mr. Sir saw them in his hole. He took him to the Warden, who he told that he didn't believe Stanley. She slashed Mr. Sir across the face with snake venom. During that time, Zero dug Stanley's hole. He wanted to learn to read and write. So Stanley taught him. When Mr. Pendanski found out, there was an incident in which Zero hits him in the head with a shovel and runs away.
Stanley runs away too. He finds Zero under a boat. They leave to climb up a mountain that looks like a thumb. There they find water and onions, and they lived on that for a while. Eventually, they leave to find treasure in Stanley's old hole, where a gold lipstick tube was found and given to X-Ray. They get caught with the treasure AND find out they're in a yellow-spotted lizard nest.
In the suitcase, there are certificates and gems that make them rich. Zero's mom is found and Stanley's dad's invention works. He calls it "SPLOOSH!" which is peaches and onions, and that is also what Zero called what he lived on under the boat.
