Storyboard Text

  •  The Mayans lived in Central America around 250 C.E.
  • The Mayans used "Slash and Burn"
  • They used painkillers
  •  They dominated Central America for 1,200 years. Their civilization went from Southeastern Mexico to modern-day Guatemala, Belize, Western parts of Honduras and El Salvador.
  • They made a 365 day calendar
  • The Mayans used "Slash and Burn." What they  did  was when a crop is done growing they cut the crop to a stump and, they burn the rest of the crops and the ashes gave the soil nutrients. But they could only do this a couple times before the soil could not grow plants anymore.
  • All of the theories of the Mayan civilization coming to an end are  warfare, Disease, Famine, and Disaster or Environmental change.
  • The painkillers were a combination of mind, body, religion, ritual ,and science. It was only practiced by a select few who generally get extensive education.
  • I most likely think that Warfare made the Mayan civilization come to an end.
  • The calendar  was a 365 day calendar. The Mayans thought that after 360 days of the year were over that they had 5 days that the gods didn't protect them and that there were 13 joints that spirits could enter their body.
  • One reason I think that disproves Famine is that they put their civilization in danger. Because they could have just moved to another farming field and farmed.
  • I think warfare caused the Mayan civilization to some to an end because the tribal leader probably took his tribe into a war that they could not win.
