  • Acrisius, king of Argos, imprisons his daughter Danae, fearful of a prophecy that his son would kill him.
  • Zeus impregnates Danae, and Perseus is born.
  • Hmm...
  • After learning of Perseus' birth, Acrisius locks them both in a wooden chest and sends them out to sea. They wash up on the island of Seriphus.
  • The king of Seriphus, Polydectes, falls in love with Danae.
  • Determined to take Danae by force if she won't come willingly, Polydectes resolves to get Perseus out of the way.
  • Polydectes sends Perseus to slay Medusa, a task from which no man has ever returned.
