The men are gathering to survey their kids. The men are speaking to them about planting and rain , tractors and taxes. And they stood away from a pile of rocks in a corner. In lines 27-29 it says " surveying their own children... planting.." This shows mystery because someone would wonder why a childs father is talking to them about planting and taxes.
IT ISN'T FAIR , IT ISN'T RIGHT !!
There are pieces of paper in the box. The papers are folded for some determination. There were some kids getting a paper and some adults. In lines 268 - 270 it says " remember.. take the paper and keep the folded". That seems like a mystery because if the villagers were winning something for good they would've allowed the slips to be open immediately. And i just wonder what's on the slips of paper.
In this scene Mr.Hutchinson took the paper from Tessie to see if it was blank. The paper had a black dot on it from when Mr.Summers put it on their the night before. In lines 304-305 it says " forced the slip of paper out her hand ... black spot..". That line shows tension because all the other villagers didn't have the dot and they knew it was Tessie. But Tessie was out of luck and got upset.
In this scene all the villagers are going to throw stones at Mrs.Hutchinson. All she kept doing was screaming. The villagers are moving in on her to attack and she screams " this isn't fair , this isn't right ". In line 328 of The Lottery she is saying this.
