Hi guys! I'm Kyle's mom, and I am your mystery reader!
According to Portrait of a Teacher, teachers need to "embrace leadership roles to create collaborative partnerships with school colleagues, families and agencies in the community to support student's learning and well-being"

Teachers have a role to help students learn and grow in education. We can be considered leaders of the community. And as leaders, we should always be communicating with their parents to tell them how their children are doing. Or even include them in classroom activities.
Hope you enjoyed our time together! Let's remember that our community is important in the world of education!
At the school that I work at, we have something called a mystery reader, where a parent comes in to read a book, and the children don't know who the reader is until the parent comes in. It's very nice because one of our parents is from Brazil, so read the book in Portuguese and Spanish. This is one great way on how we include parents in our class.
Everyday, the teachers fill out a daily sheet for each student in their classroom. If we need to tell the parents anything, whether it be if the child learned something new, or they were misbehaving, anything, we write it on the daily sheet. And then the parents would talk to us when they come to drop off their child the next morning, or even email us. Whatever it is, we are always communicating with the parents.
