The story of how the Cherokee animals brought light to their lands....

Storyboard Text

  • Once, long ago, the Cherokee people lived in darkness, with no sun to light their days.
  • I wish we had light
  • Hey! Watch out!
  • Brrrr. Its too cold.
  • I will go 
  • One day. the animals held council to see if they could solve the problem.
  • I  hear  they  have sunlight all day on the other side of the world...
  • I will  go.
  • I will  go.
  • I will  go. I can  hide it under my tail
  • Ouch! My tail
  • So, opposum went, and stole a bit of sun from the other side of the world, hiding it under his tail
  • The opposum dropped the fire, unable to carry it. His tail was burned black. The natives chased him out.
  • The animals elected Buzzard next. He dove in, and stole the fire, hiding it on his head. however, his head was burned red, like it is today.
  • AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!
  • Next, the animals elected spider, though she was small. 
  • I have a plan. I will make a pot to carry it. I am also too small for anyone to see. 
  • Ok....
