  • Long Term Causes Of French Revolution
  • Why do us peasants have to pay taxes while the clergy and nobles don't? 
  • Estates General
  • Shouldn't we all pay taxes??
  • Tennis Court Oath
  • We shall declare ourselves as the national assembly
  • Peasants were apart of the third estate, which was most of the people. The first estate was made up of members of the clergy. The second estate was made up of nobles. The first and second estate would rarely pay taxes. 
  • Storming of the Bastille 
  • The Estates General are representatives of each estate. King Louis XVI made the representatives write notebooks.  In the notebooks, they had to write a list of grievances. 
  • Revolution Begins 
  • The Third Estate declared themselves as the national assembly. Clergy and nobles decided to join the assembly. Louis XVI accepted the assembly but there were rumors that he planned to dissolve the assembly. 
  • Rumors started to spread that the royal troops were going to seize the capital. Parisians assembled outside of the Bastille. The crowd wanted weapons and gun powder from the prison. The commander of the Bastille opened fire on the crowd. The people eventually took over the Bastille and killed the commander. 
  • The revolution shortly began after the storming of the Bastille.  
  • The French Revolution has just begun.
