Tyler like the majority of young Americans was focused on getting a higher education to offer his family a better quality of life. However, when he was drafted for service his plans changed. Now Tyler had to give up his dream to serve his country.
After been trained Tyler and other U.S soldiers were send to the battlefield. They arrived at the shores of South Vietnam. Tyler could not understand why such a beautiful country was in such a big conflict with the upper side of the country(North Vietnam).
Since Tyler was in the war against his will, he did not feel prepared to take any high positions. So he was given a very simple but dangerous occupation. His job was to carry the platoon radio. In his platoon Lieutenant James Baker was the leader.
One day as Tyler was carrying the platoon radio and his platoon was attempting to built a blocking force at the back of a village where VC soldiers were believed to be he got shot by surprised. In the incident three men and the platoon leader were killed., as well.
Tyler was evacuated from the field to recover. But his situation only got worst. Now he was not only dealing with the pain of the gunshot wounds but he was also suffering from bad stomach cramps and high fever.
Tyler did not support the pain and after a few days of being in recovery he passed away. At home his mom, dad, and wife suffered a lot of pain from his dead. He also had a daughter, which he never got to meet, since his wife was still pregnant when he left for war.
