  • On January 22, 1905, a group of workers led by priest Georgy Apollonovich Gapon marched to the czar’s Winter Palace in St. Petersburg to protest. The guards, in retaliation, shot into the crowd. Hundreds of people died.
  • With the majority of the men gone off to fight in WW1, when the russian government printed off money and caused inflation. The women protested and started riots.
  • Many of the people of Russia hated the Czar because he sent his soldiers into battle, unequipped, and untrained. there were over 7 million russian casualties as a result.
