Storyboard Text

  • I can't wait to go to space!!
  • Tyrone is going to space, but before he launches, he needs to do a calculation for where he will land.
  •
  • He knows that his rocket will travel on a diagonal for 1,000 miles, before faling 800 miles directly back to earth.
  • Wait, I know that I can use the pythagorean theorem because my flight path is a right triangle.
  • The pythagorean theorem is the equation a2 + b2 = c2, This formula allows you to find the missing length of a side of a right triangle
  • A few calculations later...
  • Ok I squared the 1,000 & the 800. After I subtracted them, I was left with 3,600
  • Wait if you find the square root of that, the answer is 600 miles!
  • Now I know that my landing site is 600 miles away. I can finally launch!
  • Whoops...I guess that I forgot about zero gravity!
