Hello! My name is Bailey and I'm going to tell you about my job. I have a very important job and without me and my friends, life on Earth couldn't survive.
My first job is to evaporate from water. Evaporation is the process change from liquid to gas and is when the water gains energy and the surrounding area loses energy, which has a cooling effect.
I can also evaporate from plants which is called transpiration. It has the same effect as evaporation.
Next, I condensate. This is the process change from liquid to gas, which forms clouds. This process has a heating effect on the environment. Water molecules lose energy as the surrounding area gains energy.
Then, when the clouds can't hold all the water, it rains, which is also known as precipitation. Precipitation is when water descends in the atmosphere as a liquid or solid. It can be rain, snow, hail or sleet.
After it has rained, roads can't infiltrate the water, which means that it has to runoff to an area where it an either can infiltrate or join a body of water. Runoff is when water flows on a surface without penetrating it.
Lastly, when it rain, the water can be absorbed into the ground if it is a permeable surface. Which means that water can go inside it, unlike surfaces such as concrete or asphalt.
