Storyboard Text

  • Good luck old man.
  • Santiago's former fishing apprentice named Manolin continues showing love and kindness to his former teacher. Santiago say to Manolin, ''i know you did not leave me because you doubted''.
  • After setting out into the ocean, Santiago eventually hooks a fish. This fish was a Marlin; one capable of pulling the man's boat along with it. Hours passed and Santiago was tired, and thirty. ''He rested sitting on the un-stepped mast and sail and tried not to think but only to endure''.
  • The battle between man and fish continued for three day, and Santiago began to feel respect for his greatest adversary. ''then he began to pity the great fish that he had hooked. he is wonderful and strange and who knows how old he is, he thought''.
  •
  • Santiago finally defeats the Marlin, and now he must strap it to the said of his boat, and sail home. '' 'Keep my head dear,' he said against the wood of the bow. 'I an a tired old man. But i have killed this fish which is my brother and now i must do the slave work''.
  • Santiago, who feels a kinship with the fish begins to question whether or not anyone is worthy of eating it. ''There is no one worthy of eating him from the manner of his behaviour and his great dignity''. This is further shown when Santiago stops at nothing to keep the sharks form eating his catch.
  • The Sharks consumed the Marlin, leaving only the bones and the head. the old man returned to his shack and slept in his bed. The townsfolk and other fisherman surrounded the remains of Santiago's catch and recognized him as a strong fishermen. ''He was still sleeping on his face and the boy was sitting by him watching him. The old man was dreaming about the lions''.
